There are cheap items and life changing items and then there are the golden items that meet both of those categories. Today we're taking a look at a few of these items that I use regularly that are both (relatively) cheap and life changing. 💻 Items mentioned: Light up alarm: https://amzn.to/4m0jGlk Leuchtturm1917: https://amzn.to/3HbSvok Rotring 600 pencil: https://amzn.to/477u0mE Hard drive: https://amzn.to/4mdplEN Water bottle: https://amzn.to/4fm5vVe USB-C hub: https://amzn.to/46GbGBb Multi charging cable: https://amzn.to/3IS8l7Z Whetstone: https://amzn.to/3HeXDbf Paperlike screen protector: https://amzn.to/3GZEEkZ 🚀 Get my actionable strategies on career growth, online business, productivity, and more: https://pathtoprogress.substack.com/ SOCIALS: 🌍 My website: https://www.lewiscooper.net/ 🐦 Twitter: https://x.com/lewiscooperr 📚 Goodreads: https://goodreads.com/lewiscooper WHO AM I? About This Video

In this video I’m going through a bunch of “golden” purchases: the stuff that’s genuinely cheap(ish) but has an outsized impact on day-to-day life as a student or anyone doing deep work. I’m not talking about flashy upgrades — it’s the small, repeatable wins: waking up better, writing and thinking more clearly, keeping my digital life organised, and removing little points of friction that quietly drain attention. A lot of these items fit into how I think about student productivity science: make the good behaviours easier, and the default option becomes the productive one. That’s why things like a light-up alarm, a solid notebook + mechanical pencil, and a reliable water bottle matter more than they “should”. I also cover a few tech utilities (like a USB‑C hub and a multi charging cable) that reduce setup hassle, plus a couple of quality-of-life upgrades like a Paperlike-style screen feel for iPad note-taking and a whetstone for keeping kitchen knives actually usable. If you want practical, low-cost changes that improve focus, consistency, and general sanity, this is basically my short list.
