Moving to a small town from the big city has taught me a lot about slowing down. I always look forward to my slow and quiet mornings when I get to read my Bible. About This Video

Moving from Dallas to a super small town in Vermont was a big adjustment for me, but it’s also taught me the beauty of slowing down. In this video, I’m sharing what my quiet, slow mornings look like—making my coffee, sitting down with my Bible, and getting my heart in the right place before I log on for work. Starting my day in prayer and in the Word has genuinely changed my mornings and shifted how my whole entire day goes, because I’m not starting in hustle—I’m starting with Jesus. I’m also walking through the devotional I’ve been using: Alabaster Co’s “A Beautiful Year in the Bible.” I love that it’s set up as a weekly plan with a devotional + a theme, daily passages, and reflection questions at the end. This week’s theme was “New Beginnings,” and I share the verses that really stood out to me—especially Matthew 5 (salt and light) and Matthew 6:25 (not being anxious). I talk about how easy it is for me to get caught up in everyday anxieties, and how practicing bringing my worries to the Lord first helps me learn to cast my burdens on Him. By the time I wrap up my quiet time, I feel ready, motivated, and grounded to step into the rest of the day.
