About This Video

Hey y’all—happy New Year! In this Bible study, I’m walking through the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), also known as the Torah: “teaching,” “the law,” and literally “five books.” My goal this year is to finally finish reading the whole Bible, and I wanted this video to be a helpful tool as you read along—especially because the Old Testament can feel complex. I’m using The Daily Grace Co Bible Handbook a ton, and I share simple outlines so you can break each book into sections and actually understand what you’re reading. I cover the big movements of Scripture—creation, fall, redemption, and restoration—and then summarize each book’s main themes and key moments. In Genesis, we go from creation and the fall to God’s covenant with Abraham and Joseph’s story (Genesis 50:20 is the key verse). In Exodus, we talk slavery, the ten plagues (and how they correspond to Egyptian gods), the Red Sea, the Ten Commandments, and the tabernacle. Then Leviticus shifts into laws, rituals, priesthood, and holiness—showing God’s desire to dwell with His people. Numbers highlights wilderness wandering and disobedience, and Deuteronomy is Moses’ final reminders before Israel enters the promised land. My prayer is this helps us reach our Bible-reading goals together.
