About This Video

Today I’m sharing something that still doesn’t feel real to say out loud: I’m five whole years cancer free. I had my annual cancer checkup, all my results came back perfectly normal, and I’m just feeling extra, extra grateful this year. Five years is such a big milestone in survivorship—at least for my kind of lymphoma—because once you hit that mark, they consider you cured. I’m reflecting on my diagnosis (August 23rd, 2019), six rounds of chemo, and how fortunate I’ve been that treatment went as smooth as it could for me. In this video I talk through what survivorship actually looks like after chemo—annual appointments, waiting on labs, and that “what if” feeling that can creep in even when things are going well. Because my tumor was in my chest, I don’t do yearly scans anymore (to avoid extra radiation near my chest), and they’re able to monitor me through blood work instead. I also share a couple things I still keep an eye on, like heart checkups (echo every two years) and fertility follow-ups, and I’m being honest about the anxiety that can come with that. This year, though, feels different—I truly feel like I can let go of control a little bit and trust God in this season (Romans 8:28).
