In this video, I unbox and set up the Vinyl Now Playing Stand & Visualizer from Petru Designs. If you’re in the vinyl community on Instagram, you’ve probably seen these all over your feed (or gotten the ads), and I’ve honestly wanted one for a long time—but it was just outside my price range. Petru Designs reached out and gifted me one to try, and just to be super clear: this video isn’t sponsored, and they didn’t ask me to post anything. I made this because when I was researching it for myself, I couldn’t find a lot of real info. I show what comes in the box (the stand, power cord, prongs, and multiple knob color options), how the controls work, and how the visualizer reacts to sound. It doesn’t need to connect to your turntable because it uses a built-in microphone, and I scroll through the different modes—my favorite is the rainbow sound-reactive one. I also test it while listening to side one of Abbey Road, and it picked up the music perfectly even with my speaker nearby. My overall takeaway: it’s a super cool, retro-inspired but modern-looking addition to a vinyl setup, and I love how it completes my little corner with my gear and decor. The biggest downside is the price (a little over $200), and I think an app to pick custom colors (like matching album covers) would make it even better.
