In this video I’m reviewing the Cougar CFV235 mid-tower chassis, focusing on whether its Central Floating Ventilation design is just a visual gimmick or if it actually delivers the cooling you’d hope for. I cover pricing and availability in the UK (it’s a bit awkward to find, typically ~£150 on Amazon, but sometimes closer to ~£115 on eBay), then I get properly stuck into the layout: tool-free quick-release panels, heavily ventilated top, side intake setup, and the separated PSU area that gives the case its distinctive “floating” look. I also go over hardware support, including up to EATX (and back-connect boards), 175mm air cooler clearance, and GPU length up to 430mm. I test thermals and noise using my Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 system, and the stock airflow is reasonably well balanced: 53°C over ambient on the CPU and 49°C on the GPU in the default configuration. Panel removal doesn’t change much, which tells you the mesh isn’t overly restrictive, but adding three bottom intake fans does help the GPU, dropping it to 46°C over ambient and shaving load noise from 52dB down to 49dB. Build quality is genuinely solid for Cougar, the build process is easy, but I do have a few niggles—no removable top radiator bracket, the main grommet comes dislodged too easily, and you need to watch clearance around the integrated GPU anti-sag bracket. Overall, it’s a case I’d recommend, just ideally with extra floor fans and at the right price.
