About This Video

In this video I’m talking about Asian vs Western beauty standards, but from the perspective of someone who actually models in Japan—so it’s not just “opinions,” it’s literally what clients and castings react to. I share the biggest differences I’ve personally felt, like pale skin being praised in Asia (and getting tan being treated like you “made a mistake”), while in the West that golden tan can read as wealthy and glamorous. It’s honestly kind of shocking how the same feature can be seen as “princess” in one place and “why did you do that?” in another. I also break down height, body shape, and face expectations: Japan loving petite, short, super-skinny vibes (sometimes in a not-healthy way), while Western beauty leans more toward tall, slim, and even a bit toned with muscle. Then we get into face shape and trends like filler—how my sharp jawline feels “model” to me, but my friends and even my mom prefer a rounder, softer baby-face look. To make it super visual, I do two lookbooks: an elegant Asian-inspired outfit + makeup (hello namibukuro and pearl princess energy), and a bold Western-style baddie look with lashes, lip liner, leather, and a mini skirt. My biggest takeaway: beauty is never universal—it’s cultural.
