In this video, I did a hair routine swap with my friend Karise—meaning she did her curly hair routine on my hair, and I got to see how her products and technique would work on my curls. We both have long curly hair, but our hair types are different, so I was super curious to see if her routine would give me definition or leave me feeling dry and frizzy. We started with my wash day products: Curlsmith Super Slip Prebiotic Primer with the Wash & Scrub Detox, a shampoo brush for a scalp massage, and then I had her mix two conditioners (Herbal Essences Hello Hydration + Herbal Essences Quenching Coconut Curls), which she’d never done before. After washing and detangling with my Wet Detangling Brush, she styled using Mielle and Bounce Curl. She layered a Mielle White Peony leave-in spray, a little Bounce Curl Moisture Balance Leave-In Treatment (medium moisture), then went in heavy on definition with Mielle Honey & Ginger Styling Gel. She finished with a small amount of Mielle Babassu Brazilian Curly Cocktail Curl Cream on the ends and dry spots. Once it air-dried, I liked the definition (especially on one side), but I could tell my hair personally needs more moisture/leave-in or I’ll get frizz as it dries. Overall, I gave it an 8/10—some products were a yes for me, but I’m still a hydration girl at heart.
