In this HOME REFRESH 2026 video, I’m doing a full New Year reset in our living room after taking down all the Christmas decor and giving myself that “blank slate” moment. I wanted the space to feel fresh, brighter, and more intentional, so I focused on adding layers: texture on the wall behind the built-ins, warmer (but balanced) wood tones on the shelves, and a window treatment upgrade that completely changed the feel of the room. First, we added beaded board behind the shelves for that classic, cozy, more custom look, then I painted it with my go-to warm white (Greek Villa). I also re-stained the shelves and did a simple paint wash to neutralize yellow undertones and help everything flow with the stone on our fireplace. From there, I swapped out bulky Roman shades for softer woven wood shades, and installed custom Two Pages linen drapes in a beige-white tone—these were a total game changer for making the room feel light, airy, and elevated. I finished by resizing my gallery wall with larger black frames, upgrading the picture lights, and styling the shelves and coffee table with simple, meaningful pieces that bring warmth, texture, and that calm “lived-in” feeling I love for winter into early spring.
