In today’s video I’m decorating our “love” living room for Christmas, and I’m so excited because this space got a complete makeover earlier this year—so this is the very first Christmas I’m fully styling it. I’m going for a soft white winter Christmas theme to match the calm, airy feel of the room, but I’m still keeping my favorite cozy palette layered in: deep reds, burgundies, and dark-to-medium browns with warm gold touches. I start by making space for the tree (yes, I had to remove one of the ottomans), then I decorate our 7.5 ft snowy flocked Fraser fir tree with flocked ornaments, antique gold glass, rattan bell ornaments with camel bows, and soft burgundy ribbons. After the tree, I style the wall above the sofa with lightweight cedar garlands draped over the sconces so the tails cascade like a swag—simple, but it makes the wall feel so festive and intentional. Then I finish the shelves with a mix of vintage-inspired pieces, wintery artwork, bells, books (including my kids’ books), and practical touches like greenery and pine cones. I wrap it all up with cozy textiles on the sofa and a simple-but-special coffee table moment that still works for a family, multi-function room. My goal was an elegant but relaxed Christmas charm that feels peaceful every night.
