In this dining room refresh, I’m slowly transforming our space into something that feels much more like us—brighter, more elegant, and still practical for real life. For a long time, having little kids meant I kept things simpler, but now that my kids are growing up, I finally feel comfortable bringing in the pieces I’ve always envisioned for this area. I start with one of the biggest upgrades: custom TWO PAGES curtains in the Liz Linen collection. Hanging them high and letting them fall ceiling-to-floor instantly made the windows feel larger and the room feel more tailored and elevated. Next, I swap out the chandelier for a French-inspired satin gold fixture with beautiful curves to break up all the strong rectangles in the room. I also share a super helpful Amazon find—drapery glide tape—because I was dealing with rings catching on the rod joins. Then I refinish my dining table again (yes, again!) to a warmer medium brown with a smoother finish using Wood’n primer, gel stain, and my favorite durable matte top coat. To ground the space, I test two rugs and land on a gold/blue Loloi option that’s thin and practical for dining. I finish by adding stain-resistant upholstered dining chairs, simple spring styling on the table, and wall art without holes using 3M strips.
