About This Video

In this video I’m showing you why your iPhone storage can be full even when your iCloud still has a ton of space left. I used my wife’s iPhone as the example, and the biggest surprise is that photos and videos weren’t the main problem on the phone itself—apps were. Stuff like CapCut, Instagram, Final Cut Camera, TikTok, YouTube, and even messaging apps can quietly eat up your storage with cached data and project files. I walk you through exactly where to check: Settings > iPhone Storage. Once you see that red bar creeping up, it’s time to go app by app and make decisions. If you’re not using something, delete it. If you might need it later but don’t want it taking space right now, offload it—Apple keeps the “placeholder” with the little cloud icon so you can reinstall later without losing the app’s spot. I also call out WhatsApp as a major culprit (mine is over 65GB), and I show where to manage storage inside WhatsApp, plus why turning off auto-download can save you big. The key takeaway: iCloud is not an extension of iPhone storage—your apps and local data still live on the phone, and when you run out of space, it can cause weird syncing issues. Do a regular purge and keep your storage in check.
