Right here I’m trying something I hadn’t used before: a vacuum steamer. In this video I unbox it, show you the up close details, and explain the big difference between this and a regular handheld steamer. The main thing is it has two suction levels, so it actually suctions the fabric to the steam plate while you steam. That’s what helps you get a steady, constant high volume steam, and it also helps with dust and dirt removal from the fabric. I go over how I’d use Level 1 for thinner fabrics like cotton, silk, and linen, and Level 2 for thicker fabrics like denim, canvas, and coats. It preheats in about 30 seconds, and the 4.2 oz water reservoir is easy to remove, fill with filtered/purified water, and click back into place. I also point out the filter sponge inside the steam plate that collects loose fibers and dirt, and it’s recommended to clean it every 3–5 months. After testing it on a wrinkly garment, I liked that it was easy to operate one-handed, didn’t fatigue my hand, and the shirt was wearable right after—no damp feeling like a standard steamer. Overall, I was impressed.
