My vision for this channel...

I have had this idea floating around in my head about where I want to take the channel. Rather than explaining a paragraph's worth of info at the beginning of every video, I've been thinking about how to distill it down to a simple phrase, a tagline if you will. "Better yourself; better others." The idea is, you can literally make other musicians you're playing with sound better, and you can make songs you're playing more meaningful by the way you support them with your own musicality on the guitar. If you are pointed in the right direction, your practice and growth benefits EVERYone. People may not remember every single solo you play. But they WILL remember how you made them feel. How you made them sound. This grows out of being a musician first, and a guitar player second. THAT is the kind of stuff I want to cultivate on my channel. I'm hoping to lead this idea by example: I've spent a long time getting better at music and better at the guitar. Now I want to help you do the same. This idea came from questions I have wrestled with since my first video: do I *really* have a place in the YouTube guitar world? What in the world do I bring to the table? I've thought about these questions for a LONG time. I want the videos I put out to help people become better musicians on the guitar. I want to help people use their musicianship to make a song, a band, a singer, a soloist sound better themselves. If you're interested in being the kind of player who other musicians enjoy playing (or working) with, then I would like to think that this is the channel for you. I have started filming courses. I'm going to be attacking several topics from my own perspective, as someone who is an extremely deep thinker (overthinker, really ;)) and who enjoys explaining things in the simplest terms possible. I want to talk about how I look at the fretboard; what I see when I'm in say, the key of Bb; how chords inform the melodies and hooks I come up with; how to dial in record quality tone (even on cheap gear!!); how I learned to phrase "outside the box" of the chord progression; and lastly I'd love to do a deep dive into my biggest influences' playing. That's all coming down the pipe. Please be patient though, as I work full time outside of this, and I fit this into the margins when I can. I truly appreciate all of you subscribers.
