Are guitar players automatically good at BASS?

Well today is a special treat. You get to see me fumble my way through a bass part. It's easy, right? It's just one note at a time. Like a really easy guitar part. Haha. Well, I'm joking if you can't tell. Bass is SO HARD. It's just way too different. Bass has a COMPLETELY different function and role to play in the band. Bass is SO powerful, and it needs to be treated with the utmost respect, especially by guitar players who pick it up. In my experience, being good at guitar DOES NOT directly translate to bass playing. I think it actually puts you at a slight deficit from someone who hasn't spent years practicing guitar. Bass and guitar are *that* different. As a guitar player, you must put aside all your guitar player-ness and play like an actual bass player. This is difficult to say the least. Bass fills such an important role in the band. The bass player is the one person in the band who can make a mistake and make everyone else sound like *they're* wrong. Hahaha.
