Keeping up with the Jones's or chasing IG Clout, whatever you call it, it's unhealthy. Just be you and be present.
About This Video
In this video I’m talking about something I’ve wrestled with for a long time: feeling like I need to “keep up” with what other creators are doing—bigger studio, cleaner look, more polished everything. I use my unfinished basement as the perfect analogy, because it’s been a mental block for me. I wanted it done, sheetrocked, dialed, and “studio-ready,” but life happens—kids, time, priorities—and I finally hit that point where I’m just accepting where I’m at. We’re all on our own journeys, and wherever you are on yours is fine. Be there. Be present.
I also share how I’m changing my approach: the same way I tell people to build an off-road rig—make your first mod “miles.” Put fuel in it, drive it, use it, and then decide what you actually need. If I finished this space based on what I’ve seen online, I’d probably miss a bunch of little nuances that only show up once you start using it. The “architect in me” wants polished, but the creator in me is learning that too-perfect can feel like stock footage—and that’s not me.
The takeaway is simple: don’t be afraid to show some studs. Rough edges are fine. Use what you’ve got, stop chasing clout, and keep doing what you want to be doing.
