This whole video started because I bought a tiny Alpaka pouch after watching a Becky and Chris EDC kit video, and I decided to build my own “quasi overland” micro tool kit around one core idea: everything revolves around my Leatherman Arc. Bits, extender, ratchet—if it doesn’t play nice with the Arc, it doesn’t belong. And that’s where my problem showed up: the Leatherman ratcheting bit driver that everyone in the Leatherman EDC world has been hyped on. I finally grabbed one when they re-released it (thankfully not at the insane $200–$300 eBay prices), but I’m just being honest—I don’t love it. The collar is hard to move, it feels like cheap plastic, and it doesn’t impress me the way I wanted it to. The plot twist is I ended up preferring the 711L ratchet: it’s easy to get on Amazon, has a pivoting head, works with 1/4" bits and Leatherman flat bits, and even has that little thumb wheel for quick turns. From there, I’m kind of ideating in real time: is this pouch an overland kit, a bike kit, a camera/tripod kit, or just a “super micro tool kit”? I show how the Arc, Skeletool, bits, and extender could fit together, and I ask you what you’d put in a pouch this small—because I just want something I can reach for and trust it’ll work.
