We put Knives By Nuge through a real field test — try sticks, fire prep, hardwood processing, and camp tools. The Cub and Bruin (CPM-3V Scandi) took the abuse, and a few passes on a strop brought them back to razor sharp. We also cover the Chickpea (Nitro-V) as a pocket-friendly EDC fixed blade. About This Video

I spent hours in the woods beating the absolute hell out of three small-batch fixed blades from Knives By Nuge—making tri-sticks, building fires, processing hardwood, carving camp tools, and doing the kind of work that’ll expose a bad heat treat real quick. On paper, CPM-3V + Scandi grind sounds great, and Nitro-V sounds practical, but specs are “real cute” until you actually put steel to nasty, knotty wood and start batoning, scraping, and carving for hours. So that’s what we did—no babying, no studio-only opinions. We ran the Cub and the Bruin hard (both CPM-3V Scandi), and I was genuinely impressed with how well they held up. The Cub is the shocker: pocketable, comfortable micarta, and it does not have small knife complex—it just works. The Bruin is the more dedicated outdoor tool; that extra blade length makes splitting and longer sessions easier, and with a small folding saw you’re basically set. The Chickpea (Nitro-V) is more EDC-minded with a slicier profile, and it still stepped up when we pushed it. Best part: after all that abuse, a few passes on a strop brought the edge right back to razor sharp.
