In this Coffee Cameras Chill episode, I’m basically sitting down with a filter coffee and we need to talk about Fujifilm—the recent drama, where I think they’re dropping the ball, and what I hope they do next. I also do a bit of housekeeping: videos have slowed down because life’s been busy, and I’ve quietly transitioned my main video setup from my Fujifilm X-T4 to a Panasonic S5IIX. The X-T4 is still a great camera, but for video I kept getting burned by autofocus—especially face/eye tracking hunting at the worst times—so I wanted something more capable with more room to grow. On the Fujifilm side, my take is pretty simple: the autofocus complaints (like the X-H2S firmware situation) aren’t coming from nowhere. Fuji AF and the app experience have been frustrating for a long time, and I think Fujifilm needs to dial back the hardware hype and put serious attention into software, firmware, and reliability—because customer happiness is the whole game. I also touch on competition (Sony, Panasonic, Nikon) and Fuji rumors like an X-M style body, a fixed-lens GFX rangefinder concept, and the long-wanted X-Pro4. And finally, I’m being transparent: I’m not here to milk endless tutorials—go shoot more—and I may disappear for a bit while I handle personal stuff.
