About This Video

Here in front of me sits the Fujifilm GFX100RF and next to it is my trusty X100V — a camera that’s taught me a lot as a street and documentary photographer. After about a week with the GFX100RF, I landed on a pretty simple takeaway: it’s essentially the big brother to the X100V. In this video I break down the key spec and usability differences (102MP large format + X-Processor 5 vs 26MP APS-C + X-Processor 4), then get into the stuff that actually matters on the street: controls, viewfinder experience, batteries, card slots, ports, and how similar the overall Fujifilm shooting flow still feels. I also run a straight-out-of-camera JPEG comparison to show color and image fidelity differences, then I take the GFX100RF out for real-world shooting around Sydney. The big surprise is how much the 102MP sensor changes your shooting discipline—hand jitter and motion blur show up way faster, and I found myself doubling my usual shutter speed (from 1/500 to 1/1000) just to keep things crisp. I talk honestly about autofocus (especially continuous AF), the leaf shutter advantage for discreet candids, and why the aspect ratio dial and crop lever didn’t really earn their keep in my workflow—especially if you’re a RAW shooter. My conclusion: it’s a beautiful, quiet, capable camera that shines in good light, but if you shoot run-and-gun like I do, you’ll want to think twice.
