This could possibly be the best deal for a 56mm lens in 2024. If you shoot Fuji X mount and don't already have a 85mm equivalent prime lens... this may be interesting... About This Video

In this video I’m taking a look at Viltrox’s new 56mm f1.7 AF for Fuji X mount, and I’m putting the price right up front because it sets the whole vibe: it’s 139 USD (about 215 AUD for me here in Australia). Viltrox reached out again after they previously sent me the 13mm f1.4, and because that lens genuinely impressed me, I figured I’d give this one a proper real-world run too. No money was exchanged—I’m just sharing what I found. I break down the pros and cons in a way that actually matters for street and everyday shooting. The biggest “con” is also the obvious one: it’s cheap, so the build is mostly plastic (metal mount), it’s not weather sealed, and you shouldn’t expect top-tier optics like the pricier options. But the upside of that plastic build is it’s ridiculously light and super compact—on my X-T4 it doesn’t feel intrusive at all, which is exactly what I want when I’m out shooting. From a real-world perspective, autofocus held up nicely even in a darker tea shop, and video was solid—especially paired with IBIS on the X-T4. Image quality genuinely punches above its price tag, and if you just want to try an 85mm-equivalent prime without committing big money, this lens makes a lot of sense.
