In this week’s episode, I take a deep dive into my health and some of the big changes that I’ve made in my life that have done wonders for my mental and physical health, which, of course, only enhances the horsemanship aspect. It’s all too common in the equestrian world that we overlook our personal health and even joke about how much we give our horses, but wouldn’t dream of doing for ourselves. So, maybe this episode will inspire some ideas in you of how you can help your horse by helping yourself. ____________________________________ Influences Discussed: ✧ Come Along for the Ride Podcast ✧ Journey On Podcast ✧ The Period Party Podcast ✧ Daring Greatly by Brené Brown ✧ The Defining Decade by Meg Jay ✧ The Period Repair Manual by Laura Briden ✧ Fix Your Period by Nicole Jardim ✧ The Power of Vulnerability — https://youtu.be/iCvmsMzlF7o ✧ Why 30 is Not the New 20 — https://youtu.be/vhhgI4tSMwc ✧ Video Mentioned: Creating Relaxation with an Anxious Dressage Prospect — https://youtu.be/_AqvNrE6lVM ✧ The Willing Equine — https://www.thewillingequine.com Thank you guys for checking it out! About This Video

In this EquiTheory episode, I’m getting really personal about my health—both mental and physical—and the big changes I’ve made that have genuinely improved my day-to-day life. I talk about how easy it is in the horse world to pour everything into our horses (time, money, energy) while treating our own needs like an afterthought, or even a joke. And for me, that mindset just doesn’t work anymore—because how I feel in my body and brain directly shows up in my training, my patience, and my ability to be fair to the horse. I also share some of the podcasts, books, and talks that influenced my thinking, especially around vulnerability, adulthood transitions, and women’s health. The whole point isn’t “be perfect” or “do more”—it’s noticing what’s not working and making changes that actually support you, so you can show up better for your horse. If you’ve been feeling burnt out, anxious, or like you’re always running on empty, I hope this episode gives you a few practical ideas and the permission to take yourself seriously—because helping yourself really can help your horse, too.
