Tab Time: When We Lose Someone | How We Feel When Someone Dies | Explaining Loss and Grief for Kids

This episode of Tab Time covers child appropriate, yet sensitive topics related to death. In the Garden, Ms. Tab (Tabitha Brown) explains to Avi the Avocado that his sunflower friend in the garden has died and won’t be able to come back. She encourages Avi to think back on memories with the sunflower, and find a stone to remember it by. This gets Ms. Tab thinking about how we feel when something or someone we love dies. On a Special Adventure, Ms. Tab visits the home of her friend Lenny the Lightning Bug, where Lenny’s family has gathered for her Grandma Blinky’s funeral. Ms. Tab and Lenny take a ride on a roller coaster of emotions to see how different people honor loved ones who have died, and then return home to celebrate Grandma Blinky’s life. In Ms. Tab’s Lab, Ms. Tab meets The Great Remembererer (Jack McBrayer), a magician who shows Ms. Tab how we can use our memories and imagination to remember people and animals that have died by saying the magic words: “I Remember.” At Craft Time, Ms. Tab, her friends, and DJ Khrafty make Memory Lanterns. At Snack Time, Ms. Tab, Burnie the Oven Mitt, and Starla the Spatula make Care Crackers for Avi to show that they care about him.
