When Avi the Avocado asks Ms. Tab (Tabitha Brown) for hot pizza, she misunderstands and makes him a pizza with a bunch of spicy peppers! Yowch! Turns out the word “hot” has more than one meaning – temperature and spicy. This gets Ms. Tab thinking about how we communicate with each other, and if there are ways to communicate other than words. In her Magic Playroom, Ms. Tab and Lenny the Lightning Bug go on a Special Adventure to a magic forest where they use a communication box to understand fairies, garden gnomes, and mushrooms in order to get directions to a castle party. Later in her lab, Ms. Tab meets Speedy Petey (Troy Kotsur) – a race car driver who uses American Sign Language to communicate. At Craft Time, DJ Khrafty joins Ms. Tab and her friends to make That’s My Business Cards to communicate special characteristics about themselves to others. At Snack Time, Starla the Spatula tries to teach Ms. Tab and Burnie the Oven Mitt her Great Grand Spatchy’s recipe for Yakity Snack energy bars – but the recipe is in “Spatulish” which uses measurements like “shworzabinks” and “mcdoodles” instead of cups or spoonfuls! By explaining the sizes in a different way, they’re able to make some delicious and adorable Yakity Snacks. This episode features picture-in-picture ASL interpretation.
