As of October 2020, it was reported there were over 1.5 million active podcast shows out there, with over 34 million episodes. That’s a lot, and the growth isn’t stopping there. Why should it when there’s a viable audience ready to listen? According to Nielsen, U.S. podcast audiences could double by 2023 with a 20% CAGR. Technology has certainly played a contributing factor as 36 million Americans access podcasts on their smartphones and we’re seeing an uptick in growth due to smart speaker devices, too. With all of that audio content out there, brands will have to consider whether a podcast is right for them too, and, if they’re going to be heard through all the noise. We expect many more companies to jump on the podcast train in 2021. Companies and solopreneurs alike want to be viewed as experts in their industry. By launching a podcast, they allow their brand to rank in new avenues and show off some expertise. It’s also a great way to attract new audiences, build connections, and create brand awareness.
