Just when I thought I have seen it all... out pops a hitchhiker that I have never encountered in my reef tank before! This is a Medusa Worm (Loimia medusa), while it is actually a sea cucumber and completely harmless, when stressed it could release a toxin that would absolutely wreck fish's gill in the aquarium (similar to other Sea Cucumbers). After discovering this worm, I have a little suspicion regarding the strange death around my Bangaii Cardinal as well as the Blue Stripe Pipefish, whom have been doing fantastic up to their random death. Regardless, I will try to rehome the Medusa Worm just in case. In this video we also put the red matters on the macro algae tank's sand bed under a microscope to see if they are once again... dinoflagellate.
