Episode # 300 In this exciting episode I go over the Kobalt 24v and the Ryobi 18V newish spot light, and compare them to my 10,000 lumen spot light. I really like these lights and use them all the time. If you would like to see me compare them to the older Ryobi and some other lights let me know and I will make more spot light videos. About This Video

Tonight I’m out on the corner of my block doing a real-world spotlight comparison—no studio stuff, just what you can actually see down the road. I put the newer Kobalt 24V spotlight up against the newer Ryobi ONE+ 18V stubby spotlight (PCL661). Both of these are in that “about 3,000 lumens” range, but they don’t throw the same and they don’t feel the same in the hand. It was muggy and nasty out (about 95 degrees with crazy humidity), so if you see a little fog on the lens, that’s why. The Ryobi has three modes (high/medium/low) and it’s definitely lighter, with a cleaner/whiter looking beam. The Kobalt beam looked similar, but out on my block it seemed to reach further when I pushed it out to two to three blocks. The wild card is my 10,000 lumen light—when you click that on, it just floods everything. It’s not as focused, but it lights up the whole area like crazy (sorry neighbors). My takeaway: if you want a more focused throw, these 3,000-lumen spotlights do the job, and if you want pure “light up everything,” the 10,000-lumen flood style is a different animal.
