In this video I focus on practical website security for WordPress site owners, and I break it down into two common threats: DDoS and malware. DDoS is usually “just” downtime—attackers flood your server with traffic until it falls over—so I explain why a web application firewall like Cloudflare is typically the simplest mitigation. Malware is the bigger problem: it’s when an attacker gets direct access via things like outdated plugins, phishing, or weak admin practices, and the consequences can be catastrophic (data theft, reputational damage, revenue loss, and even Google flagging your site as malicious). Then I walk through a user-friendly mitigation approach using Cloudways managed hosting. I show the security stack you get out of the box: server-level firewall, Fail2Ban, regular security patching, bot protection, Patchstack vulnerability scanning, free SSL, IP whitelisting for SSH/SFTP/MySQL, 2FA, backups, and team-based role access.
