About This Video

In this tutorial I show you how to build and deploy a static website on Cloudflare Pages for free—step by step. I start with a WordPress site, convert it into a static export using the Simply Static plugin, then upload the generated ZIP directly into Cloudflare Pages using the “Direct Upload” option. Once it deploys (give it a couple of minutes), you’ll see the site running on a fast Cloudflare Pages dev domain, with everything loading as expected. After that, I walk through adding a custom domain properly. The key step is moving DNS management to Cloudflare (free plan is totally fine—ignore the upsell), updating your nameservers at your registrar (I demo it with Namecheap), and then waiting for DNS propagation. I also show how to verify propagation using dnschecker.org, then activate the domain inside your Pages project. I finish with the real pros and cons: Pages is extremely fast, secure (no backend/CMS attack surface), and basically set-and-forget. The tradeoff is dynamic features—forms, ecommerce, etc.—need to be embedded from external services, and updates aren’t as convenient as a CMS unless you use tools like Simply Static Pro. I also cover the key limits (25MB file limit, 20,000 files per site) and who this setup is best for: brochure sites, portfolios, local business sites, and other low-maintenance builds.
