In this video I had a simple plan: surprise my brother-in-law with a brand new toolbox to help get his shop organized now that I’m set up here in Washington. The catch was I drive a BMW Z4, so there’s no way a full-size toolbox is fitting in that. That meant I had to hustle and get his spare Dodge Ram 1500 ready to run—new battery, and a transfer case shift solenoid because it was stuck in 4-wheel low. Of course, it turned into one of those days where everything fights you. I cleaned and neutralized battery acid with hot water, got the terminals cleaned up, dropped the front driveshaft, and then found out the “new” solenoid didn’t match the connector. So I improvised—left the driveshaft off and ran it in 2WD just to get the toolbox. Then the brand-new battery turned out to be junk, the truck was on E, and I still had to call AAA for a jump at Home Depot just to get it back home. Even with the surprise getting partially busted, we got the box unloaded and started loading it up with the tools he’s got, and I’ll keep adding more automotive-focused tools as we build this shop out.
