In this video I walk you through four of my favorite free screen recorders you can start using today, and I explain exactly when I use each one. Since I record my screen constantly for tutorials, walkthroughs, and quick help videos, I’ve landed on a simple “use the right tool for the job” setup. The big takeaway is you don’t need to pay for screen recording—Windows already gives you solid options, and there are great free tools that work on any computer. First, I show the Windows Snipping Tool for the fastest, simplest recordings—no install needed. Then I move up to Microsoft Clipchamp, which is also free on Windows and gives you more control, like choosing your mic and recording screen + camera, plus it drops your recording right into an editor so you can trim and polish it. After that, I cover Loom, which is web-based (and also has a desktop app) so it works anywhere—perfect for quick screen-share demos with your face in the corner, as long as you stay within the free plan limits. Finally, I show OBS Studio, which I’m actually using to record the video. It’s the most robust option with tons of features and audio control, but it can be overkill if you just need a quick clip.
