See how to trim and secure a fireplace mantel to the wall. Update - due to many requests, the plan for this fireplace mantel are now available at https://woodenitbenice.ca/collections/woodworking-plans The process starts with test fitting the mantel and scribing it to the wall. Then the mantel needs to be trimmed to the scribe line so it will fit snugly to the wall. The second part involves installing blocking to secure the fireplace mantel to. This is done by marking where the fireplace will be installed and then adding blocking strips to the wall on the inside line where the mantel will sit. Driving screws or nails through the mantel and into the blocking will secure the mantel in place. This video is in response to a viewer comment. If you have questions on a video, leave us a comment.
