I wasn’t even planning to make another Elgato video this week… and then Stream Deck 7.0 dropped. So this one’s a bit more informal—because this update is genuinely one of the biggest game changers we’ve had in a long time. I break down the main release notes: Virtual Stream Deck is now officially out of beta, Stream Deck “Key Logic” is finally here, plus there’s a slick new official Weather plugin and a couple of quality-of-life action updates. Virtual Stream Deck is a huge deal if you want Stream Deck power without being tied to physical keys. I show how it lives on your desktop, how you can toggle it with a hotkey or even a button on a physical Stream Deck, and how you can resize the grid without losing your layouts. But the real star is Key Logic: single press, double press, and long press on the same key—no more sketchy workaround setups. That means one key can replace three actions, and my brain immediately goes to OBS workflows, mic controls, and stacked creator shortcuts. I also demo the official Weather plugin (it looks way prettier than it has any right to) and the new “Open Application” action that lets you pick apps directly—including Windows apps—and even bring them to the front. Add in hotkey presets like screenshots and window snapping, and Stream Deck 7.0 becomes a serious productivity upgrade for creators.
