In this Studio Nerds pod episode, I’m basically calling out the biggest EQ mistake I see: people EQ like it’s a solo mission instead of a “whole house” problem. We also get into what “EQing correctly” actually looked like for me on a recent mix I’m super proud of. It wasn’t magic—it was time spent listening through the song, finding the exact moments the vocal gets lost, and asking “what’s masking it right here?” Instead of only chasing the typical intelligibility collision zone (1–3 kHz), we talk about checking fundamentals and the real jumble area (roughly 500 Hz up to 3 kHz) and carving space there.
