A lot of y’all might not know this, but I’m one of the partners over at On The Radar, and I got tasked with getting our new studios up and running. In Part 1 of this build, we literally start from scratch: we just got the keys, we’re dealing with the previous tenant still moving stuff out, and we jump straight into phase one—demo and junk removal—so we can open up the flow between the original Studio A and the two new rooms we just secured (Studio B and Studio C). From there, I walk you through the plan and the vibe. Studio B is going to be a full-time recording studio with a New York City train station theme—subway-style ceramic tile, dark grout, signage, and slat wall panels to help with absorption (and yes, it’s not “perfect,” but it’s a smart, affordable way to get control in the room). Studio C is getting the New York City bodega treatment: mural work, wallpaper, props like an ATM, plus it’ll be our podcast room, livestream set, and the spot for DJ sets.
