In this live stream, I brought in two extremely special guests—Teezio and Prizzie—for a members-only live mix feedback night. We kicked it off like we always do: getting the community settled in, shouting out the mods, checking what DAW everybody’s repping, and making sure members knew exactly where to submit (thehmdcircle.com / hmdsubmit.com). Before we even got deep into feedback, we went straight into the stuff engineers actually argue about: travel rigs, remote logging into your main setup, assistants holding it down, and the reality that you’re basically “in the studio 24/7” if your system is always ready. Teezio and Prizzie broke down why they’ve been leaning more in-the-box lately—especially for loud pop/K-pop and modern records—because it’s easier to keep transients and match the demo energy without fighting your own outboard chain. We also talked about how stems can come back with way more transient than the producer’s slammed two-track, so sometimes you’re literally de-transienting to stay true to the rough. We also got into the Natural Audio AL1 limiter and why it stands out in a world of a thousand limiters: it can get crazy loud while keeping drums intact—like “you’re speeding but you don’t feel it” until you look at the meter.
