In this video I’m putting a big Costco rumor to bed: “Costco hearing aids are locked.” Nope. I work at Costco, I recommend Costco hearing aids a lot, and I keep seeing this pop up in forums, emails, and my YouTube comments—people being told they can’t program KS10s, Rextons, Philips, or Jabras anywhere except Costco. So I decided to prove it the only way that matters: I connected to all four brands myself, on my own computer at home, and showed they’re fully programmable. I walk you through what I actually do: power the aids off and back on (so they’re discoverable for a couple minutes), connect with a Noahlink Wireless, and open the correct fitting software for each brand (Phonak for KS10, ReSound/Jabra, Philips HearSuite, and Rexton). I also show a practical tip that matters if you’re nervous about DIY—read out the connected instruments first and save a backup of your Costco session to your computer, so you don’t lose your fitter’s settings. Bottom line: these devices aren’t “factory locked.” If someone tells you they’re locked, they either don’t want to work on them, or they don’t know how to get/set up the software.
