Are your hearing aids constantly whistling, squealing, or giving you that annoying feedback loop? The problem might not be your hearing aids at all — it could be your dome selection. In this video, I break down everything you need to know about hearing aid domes — open, tulip, closed, and power — and why choosing the right one is so important. Whether you’re using over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids or prescription hearing aids, understanding occlusion, feedback, and dome size is the key to better sound and comfort. I’ll also show you how the feedback loop works, why occlusion (sealing the ear canal) matters, and even walk through a live demo using the Philips fitting software. You’ll see what happens when we calibrate with open domes (lots of leakage and feedback risk) versus power domes (sealed canal, no feedback). 🔑 What You’ll Learn: Why your OTC hearing aids whistle or squeal The difference between open, tulip, closed, and power domes What occlusion is and how it changes your own voice How feedback loops happen (and how to stop them) Why software calibration matters for pros, but OTC users must rely on dome selection Tips for better comfort, sound quality, and streaming performance This video is perfect for: New OTC hearing aid users confused about domes DIY hearing aid fitters learning how feedback management works Hearing aid professionals in training who want a clearer explanation 👉 By the end, you’ll know exactly how to choose the right dome, avoid feedback, and make your hearing aids sound their best. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ➥ Follow US 🖥️ Website - www.HearingClub.me 👂HearingClubOnline@gmail.com 🐤 twitter.com/hearing_club ❤️DONATE & SUPPORT OUR CHANNEL🙏 Paypal.me/HearingClub ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LINKS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRY OTC HEARING AIDS 🦻Elehear Beyond (My Favorite OTC) https://elehear.sjv.io/6y9VMQ 🦻Audien Atom Pro 2 - https://audienhearing.pxf.io/c/4905600/1821514/14318 🦻 JABRA OTC Hearing Aid - https://amzn.to/3rilDCt ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HELPFUL Producs On Amazon 🌊 Hearing Aid Dryer - https://amzn.to/3ZptWJe 🎧 JABRA OTC Hearing Aid - https://amzn.to/3rilDCt 🥛 Hearing Aid Drying Cup - https://amzn.to/3HXpfxS 🧦 Hearing Aid Covers (SweatProof) - https://amzn.to/45ZOU3K 🧷 OtoClip (Hearing Aid Lanyard) Type 1 - https://amzn.to/3RuNlqm 🧷 OtoClip (Hearing Aid Lanyard) Type 2 - https://amzn.to/3t1wP70 📺 ROKU Streaming Box https://amzn.to/421kOf0 WAX FILTERS 🛞 (Phonak & KS9/10) Cerushield - https://amzn.to/44TV4kI 🌀 (Jabra/ReSound) Cerustop - https://amzn.to/3rd8Np7 🌘 (Philips/Oticon) ProWax MiniFit - https://amzn.to/3Lx4OdY ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTHER VIDEOS Hearing Aid Programs ............. https://youtu.be/kCd5aXzEliA Rexton App............................... https://youtu.be/IdLwOmYBqgQ Stop Paying So Much.............. https://youtu.be/wvUXM4YBih4 Free Online Hearing Test.......... https://youtu.be/8sf_jdL8Xdk How To Read an Audiogram ..... https://youtu.be/bH3GE3dvbyA DISCLAIMER I am a costco employee. About This Video

In this video I finally break down something that confuses almost everybody at first: dome selection. The little silicone tip on the end of your hearing aid is way more important than most people realize. If your aids are whistling or squealing (feedback), or if your own voice sounds loud, boomy, hollow, or like you’re “talking in a tunnel,” that usually comes down to the dome type, the dome size, and whether the aid is actually inserted all the way into your ear canal. I explain occlusion (how much the dome seals the ear canal) and why it matters. The worse your hearing loss, the more volume you need, and the more you typically have to “trap” sound in the canal to prevent the feedback loop—sound leaks out, hits the mic, gets amplified, and repeats forever. I walk through open, tulip, closed, and power (double) domes, and my general rule: stay as open as possible with the least occlusion you can afford. Then I show a live demo in Philips fitting software so you can actually see the feedback margin. With a severe loss and an open dome, leakage is huge and the software has to kill your high-frequency gain to avoid feedback. Swap to a power dome, the leakage disappears, and you can keep that “beautiful” high-frequency amplification. OTC users especially need this, because you don’t have clinic software—your best fix is physical: the right dome and a proper insertion.
