It is a very exciting time to be a Costco member right now, and in this video I’ve got two big updates that matter if you wear hearing aids (or you’re about to). First, Costco is now offering CROS and BiCROS configurations—specifically the Jabra CROS/BiCROS. If you’re deaf in one ear and a traditional hearing aid won’t help on that side, this is the setup where a device acts like a wireless mic on the bad side and sends sound over to your better ear. The best part is you don’t have to spend $6,000–$8,000 anymore—this is coming in around $1,700 (region-dependent). The main announcement is the one that has me fired up: select Costco locations are now carrying a fifth major manufacturer via the SoundGear Amp, made by Starkey Laboratories. That means Costco now covers all “big five” manufacturers across its lineup (Rexton/Signia, Jabra/ReSound, Philips/Oticon, Sennheiser/Sonova, and now SoundGear/Starkey). I wore the SoundGear Amp all day and it sounded really good, the app is amazing with tons of options, battery life is claimed up to about 41 hours, and Auracast worked right out of the box—no waiting on an update. If you want to know whether your Costco has it, the only move is to call and ask.
