In this video I finally did what a bunch of you guys already did—I picked up the phone and called Rexton (WS Audiology) and Philips to get real answers about the Auracast update. A lot of us assumed the new Rexton Reach (and the Philips 9050/9050 platform) would eventually get Auracast because they’re “LE Audio” hearing aids. But as I explain, LE Audio and Auracast are related… and also confusing: if you have Auracast you have Bluetooth LE Audio, but if you have Bluetooth LE Audio, you might not have Auracast. I walk through what Auracast actually is (broadcast audio you can tap into at places like churches, airports, TVs, etc.), why it’s a big deal for speech clarity, and why GN/Jabra/ReSound are currently the only ones I’ve personally tested with working Auracast. Then I share what I learned on the calls: Rexton support gave me mixed signals, but the most direct takeaway was “no plans for Auracast” on Reach and possibly not until a future device generation (one rep even hinted 2027). Philips, on the other hand, told me the 9050s are getting Auracast—so if Auracast is your priority today, I’m still telling you to look hard at Jabra/ReSound (GN) right now.
