In this video I’m reviewing something pretty unique: the Mearsun MES-E100, which might be the first true over-the-counter bone conduction hearing aid I’ve seen on the market. I’m Brian from The Hearing Club, I’m a licensed hearing aid practitioner in Pennsylvania, and I also wear hearing aids myself (mild high-frequency loss). So I can give you both the fitter perspective and the “real life” perspective—although I’ll be upfront: I don’t have a conductive loss, so I didn’t personally get much benefit from the hearing aid function. I break down what bone conduction actually is (and how it differs from air conduction), and I explain who this device is really for—think conductive hearing loss, chronic ear infections/otitis media, outer ear deformities, or anyone who wants amplification without putting anything in the ear canal. I also show the right way to wear it (bone oscillators flat on the cheekbone, not on top of the ear like regular headphones), and why open-ear fit helps avoid occlusion, feedback, and that itchy “plugged up” feeling. Then I walk through setup and controls: dual mode (hearing aid mode vs Bluetooth mode), 14-hour battery, magnetic charging, IPX5 sweat resistance, and the two self-fitting options—either the smartphone app (6-band fine tuning from 500–8000 Hz) or the included handheld remote that’s already paired and great for people who hate smartphones.
