This one isn’t my typical hearing-aid deep dive, but I had to bring you guys along because I finally made it to CES 2025 in Las Vegas—my first CES and my first time in Vegas—and it was honestly overwhelming in the best way. CES is massive (three main campuses), so I definitely didn’t see everything, but now that I know the ropes I’m planning to cover a lot more next year. My strategy was simple: follow the biggest crowds and see what people were actually excited about. I ran into a bunch of fun tech—like RoboRock’s wild new vacuum/mop setups (including a model with a mechanical arm that can move socks out of the way), a hydrogen-infusing water bottle that looks cool even if the science is still “more research needed,” and my personal nerd-heaven: a custom PC company showing off a desk with the entire computer built into it. I also saw a modular flying car/drone setup that’s absolutely insane (and absolutely not cheap), plus some cute-but-weird robot pets and interactive plushies. But I did track down hearing-related tech too, including Nuance Audio glasses (EssilorLuxottica partnership) with directional amplification and beamforming—interesting, but not FDA-approved in the US yet. And to close it out, I spent time with Elehear again, because in my experience they’re one of the only sub-$500 OTC options that actually holds up in noise, which is the hard part.
