Electric vehicles were sold as the future — cheaper to own, better for the environment, and easier on your wallet. But for a growing number of owners, that promise isn’t matching reality. From unexpected costs to lifestyle compromises nobody talks about, the long-term picture of EV ownership looks very different once the honeymoon phase wears off. In this video, we break down the real-world tradeoffs people are discovering after buying an electric car, why so many are feeling buyer’s remorse, and how marketing hype masked the true cost of ownership. If you’re thinking about going electric — or already did — this is a conversation you’ll want to hear before making your next move. About This Video

Electric cars were sold as the “cheaper, cleaner future,” but in this video I break down why a lot of owners are hitting buyer’s remorse in 2025/2026. Once the honeymoon phase wears off, the real-world tradeoffs show up fast: charging headaches (especially if you live in an apartment), range dropping in heat/cold with HVAC running, lines at chargers, and the annoying reality that you’re often told to charge to 80% instead of 100%. If you’re running an extension cord out a third-floor window or driving around sweating while you hunt for a charger, that’s not convenience—it's overcomplicating your life. Then we get into the money side, because that’s where EVs really start bleeding people. Depreciation on a lot of non-Tesla EVs is horrendous (Mach-E examples losing around $30k fast), trade values are weak, and battery health/range anxiety makes the used market even worse. On top of that, the “futuristic” design choices and electronic-by-everything systems create reliability and repair concerns—especially when the battery pack is the lowest thing on the car and damage can total it. My take: if you don’t have home charging, buying an EV is stupid, and even if you do, you better understand depreciation—because the savings pitch doesn’t mean anything if you light $30,000 on fire in two years.
