I know that owning a house is a thing of the past and unlikely for most of us, but that is still no excuse to be taking the money you saved up and using it to renovate your RENTAL Apartment! Something you don't own! The newest trend people are doing is "DIY" upgrading and renovating their rental apartment to the "extreme". Since they cant afford a home. And I think it is absolutely insane and a complete waste of money. Now don't get me wrong, i'm all for giving your apartment some character and making it look nice but spending thousands of dollars on things that will ultimately get ripped up and destroyed at the end of your lease is just crazy! So please if you get the itch to upgrade or renovate something, please consider your retirement account or your investments! Not your apartment!
