Hi Gifted Crafters! In this video I’m doing one of my favorite budget-friendly quilting moves—using what I already have. I had leftover Quarter Square Triangle (QST) blocks (also called hourglass blocks) from Lori Holt’s Quilter’s Cottage Quilt, and instead of letting those pretty blocks sit in a drawer, I pulled them into EQ8 to design a brand-new scrap quilt layout. I walk you through how I think about upcycling leftover blocks, so you can turn “extras” into something intentional and beautiful. I also talk about what makes QSTs so fun: they’re made by sewing two half square triangles together, and they create those star-like patterns that really pop when you arrange them the right way. EQ8 helps me visualize different layouts quickly, organize what I have, and feel confident before I ever cut more fabric.
