Hi Gifted Crafters—today I’m continuing our Garden Charm quilt project by sewing the leafy green stem blocks that sit right under our flower blocks on the Tabletop Banner. Yesterday we finished up those bright, happy flowers, and now the quilt top is really starting to look like a tiny little garden. These leaf units are made from several small fabric pieces, so this step takes a bit of patience—but honestly, that’s part of the fun of quilting. In this video I’m at my Janome straight-stitch machine (the one I lovingly call Ms. Molly), and we’re taking it one stitch at a time to bring these leaves to life. I’ll walk you through the process in a beginner-friendly way so you can keep your points tidy and your pieces lined up, even when the units get small. This project was designed by Lori Holt using her Riley Blake Designs fabrics, and when it’s finished, the banner measures about 12" x 14"—perfect for spring décor on a table, shelf, or in your sewing room.
