Back in 1995, Geezer Nate received an incredible gift - an original Powell Peralta Skull and Sword skateboard with all original components! Unfortunately, due to being a college freshman in the mid-90s, Nate was not mature enough to have realized just how awesome this gift was. Well, Geezerhood is upon Nate now and he has seen the light in regards to OG and Re-Issues and is all about the old school set ups! This Skull and Sword had seen better days - the bushings were completely shot (brittle and falling apart), the bearings dead and a fine layer of grime everywhere. So Nate took some old towels (getting permission from the wife - always ask permission!), new bushing, bearings and warm, soapy water and got this setup back into skating shape! Check out this video to see the transformation and learn easy ways to remove old bearings without the aid of tools! ------------------------------------------------------- Old School Skater Interviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8fA5RbNwrVALOE4koCnVstAgnRiygelZ Geezer Shop: https://geezerskate.co/geezershop/ Geezer Site: https://geezerskate.co Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geezerskateco/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GeezerSkateCo/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/geezerskateco Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/geezerskateco?sub_confirmation=1

About This Video

In this video I’m bringing a real piece of my skate past back to life: an original Powell Peralta Skull and Sword complete that I got as a gift back in 1995. As a broke college freshman in the mid-90s, I didn’t have the maturity to understand how rad (and how OG) that setup really was. Now that Geezerhood is fully upon me, I’m all in on old school setups—OG and re-issues—and this one deserved a simple, respectful restoration so it can be skated again. This Skull and Sword had definitely seen better days: the bushings were completely shot (brittle and literally falling apart), the bearings were dead, and there was a fine layer of grime over everything. I walk through my easy cleanup process using warm, soapy water and old towels (and yes—get permission from the wife, always ask permission!), then swap in fresh bushings and bearings to get it rolling right. I also show an easy way to remove old bearings without any tools, because keeping it simple is the whole point. The takeaway: you don’t need a full rebuild to revive an old-school complete—just smart basics and a little care.
