About This Video

Hey everybody—Stephen here, Gear Stuff & Things. In this video I’m checking out one guitar (yeah, just one): the 2025 Schecter Red Dawn Baritone with an Evertune. It showed up from the fine folks at zZounds, and I walk through what the Red Dawn lineup is, then dig into the important stuff on this specific model: a 27" scale baritone, basswood body, gloss black finish with red binding, a super fast ultra-thin C neck with a matte back, ebony board, and those offset red circle inlays. If you’re worried the whole thing feels “glassy,” don’t be—the neck is already de-glossed and it plays quick. I also talk about why the Evertune is such a big deal for low tunings: once it’s dialed, tuning drift basically stops being a thing, which is awesome for recording and live. For pickups, this one has Fishman Modern Open Cores (ceramic bridge, alnico neck) with a 5-way switch and a push/pull for active/passive voicing, so you can get way more than just “metal chugs.” I demo cleans (yes, I went full swamp hustlers/frog-mobster vibes) and then bring the heat with the high-gain stuff. Finish preferences aside (gloss black isn’t my favorite), I still land at a solid 4 out of 5 teacups because it plays great, sounds aggressive, and the baritone + Evertune combo just works.
