In this video I go headless and put two Strandbergs side by side: the Boden Essential 6 and the Boden Standard NX7. The Essential 6 is the most barebones Strandberg you can buy, but it absolutely doesn’t feel cheap to me—honestly it’s my favorite Strandberg I’ve played so far. I break down the ergonomic body, the roasted maple EndurNeck with ebony board, the non–fan fret layout (which I prefer), and the fixed bridge/string lock system that’s kind of “Floyd Rose with less headaches”… but still its own set of headaches until you do a few string changes. Then I run it through a demo so you can hear how bright, articulate, and bitey those OEM humbuckers are. After that, I jump to the Boden Standard NX7: basswood core with a flame maple cap in a transparent charcoal finish (not usually my thing, but the matte helps). This one brings the fan frets and multi-scale (26.5" on the low side, 25" on the high side), plus Luminlay dots and stainless frets. I’m transparent about it: even though I play 7-strings regularly, the wide EndurNeck on this one feels a little off to me compared to the 6. I wrap up with pricing, gig bag thoughts, and who I think each guitar makes sense for.
