In this video I’m comparing four Fishman Fluence bridge humbuckers on voicing 1, with everything as controlled as I can make it. All guitars are tuned to drop Ab, I’m using the same riff for the clean section and the same riff for the dirty section, and I’m running everything through the Gojira plugin with the clean and dirty patches level-matched. No EQ analyzer screenshots, no Pro-Q3 peak-hunting—because none of that matters if it doesn’t translate to what you actually hear and feel. On cleans, to my ears the Will Adler has more of an upper-mid spike and attack, while the Stephen Carpenter has a more defined lower-mid thing plus a nice lift in the highs—sparkle and oomph—and it ends up being my favorite here (which is funny, because I didn’t like it the first time I ever tried Fishmans). The Alnico feels like a blend of those two flavors, and the Modern Ceramic is just a really balanced “everything in the right place” option with some of that Carpenter sparkle but without the weird low-mid thing I heard in the Alnico. Once you hit high gain, they get harder to tell apart, but the same vibe holds: Adler bites and attacks, Carpenter growls, Alnico sits in between, and Ceramic stays even. I also talk about why Fluence won me over coming from passives: consistency guitar-to-guitar, definition under gain, and way less patch/EQ/gate rework when I swap instruments live or in sessions.
